    Introduction to Cognitive Science

    Summer 2026

    Interdisciplinary study of mind and intelligence across AI, psychology, neurobiology, linguistics, and philosophy: memory, language, problem solving, learning, perception, and action. Centers on a self-directed term project of at least 100 person-hours combining an original problem analysis with a survey of the related literature.

    Game AI

    Fall 2025

    Real-time agent AI in Unity and C#: grid navigation, path networks, navmesh, A* search, projectile aiming, finite-state-machine decision making, fuzzy logic, and procedural content generation, with an explicit study of trading optimal AI behavior against effective player experience under real-time constraints.

    Human-Computer Interaction

    The user-centered design workflow end to end: needfinding through interviews, observations, surveys, and focus groups; brainstorming and paper prototyping; evaluation via cognitive walkthroughs and user feedback; and iterative revision. Principles include direct manipulation, usability affordances, and interaction-design heuristics.

    Machine Learning for Trading

    Applied machine learning on financial market data in Python across eight projects: Martingale, Optimize Something, Assess Learners (decision trees, random forests, bagging), Defeat Learners, Marketsim, Indicator Evaluation, Q-Learning Robot, and Strategy Evaluation. Emphasis on designing and evaluating models and experiments — and on the practical limits of ML in trading.

    Introduction to Information Security

    Nine hands-on security projects spanning security management and risk assessment, software and operating-system security, database security, cryptography algorithms and protocols, network authentication, malware, network threats and defenses, web and mobile security, privacy, and legal and ethical issues.

    CS 6457

    Video Game Design

    Real-time 3D systems in Unity and C#: animation-based character control, physics-driven environment interaction, UI and prefabs, and game AI, plus a team project run through pitch, alpha, playtesting and analysis, and final delivery.
